A conservative message: Freedom and opportunity for everyone

Our founders clearly spelled out in the Declaration of Independence that all of us are created equal, endowed by our Creator with certain fundamental rights. In other words: Our rights come from God, not the government. The government's role is to ensure those rights are not infringed upon in any way.

Film shows moral decay

Movies are generally meant to entertain the viewer, but the new film "Sound of Freedom" is more of a wake-up call to a dark world many of us have never encountered ("Actor Jim Caviezel shares his passion for role in new film 'Sound of Freedom,'" web, June 29).

Jill Scott's twisted 'home of the slaves' anthem face-slaps all America

SingerJill Scott took to an Essence Fest stage and belted out a rendition of the National Anthem that subbed out the phrases "by the dawn's early light" and "what so proudly we hailed" for "by the blood in the streets" and "that this place doesn't smile on you, colored child."
