Last week, I watched the televised fiasco that was FBI Director Christopher Wray’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee (“Christopher Wray pushes back on claims that FBI agents, Ray Epps instigated Jan. 6 riot,” web, July 12).

It was more than disappointing. Citizens have a right to know; taxpayers underwrite the salaries of Mr. Wray and all the other ‘alphabet agency’ bureaucrats. They aren’t an oligarchy.

Questions were asked during Mr. Wray’s testimony, but only evasive mumblings came back.

My solution: Give the FBI one week to have the answers, and make Mr. Wray return to the Hill to give them.

Let the public see what’s going on. We should no longer tolerate “I don’t have the answers to that” as a response during congressional hearings. Both Republicans and Democrats must demand real answers.

So much for public servants.
